This has to be my new favourite book! I adore Adam and Olive with every fibre of my being. This book gave everything it needed and more. I mean, grumpy sunshine meets fake dating will always be a yes from me. Combine that with ✦ a woman in STEM ✦ and a tall, dark, handsome love interest and it’s a win.
Adam and Olive’s relationship was something I loved to witness unfold throughout the book. Everything was easy for me to visualise and follow along with but didn’t leave the plot twists out in the open and easy to guess. Alongside their relationship, I loved learning about each characters personalities and interests – this goes for the side characters too. Ahn and Malcom are the greatest friends to Olive and I loved seeing them all interact.
The way we learnt about each characters lives felt realistic and wasn’t rushed, which is something else that I loved. I much prefer when characters open up as books go on, instead of learning about their entire backstory within the first 5 pages of the book. The only way I could think to improve this book is that Adam could’ve had a little more depth to this personality within the actual story. I read the extra chapter on Ali’s website and that the small amount of his personality that felt like it was missing. I just wish we could have seen that more within the actual book. However, this isn’t to say that I dislike Adam, in fact I feel the exact opposite. Ali, you have made me fall in love with a fictional scientist.
This book has consumed me completely and I cannot stop thinking about it (que me having a breakdown about how perfect Adam is whilst listening to a playlist inspired by the book). I’m beyond excited to see what Ali Hazelwood produces in future!
